Job Summary The HVAC Associate is responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and dehumidification systems throughout the cultivation facility. This role ensures that all environmental systems are functioning correctly to maintain optimal temperature, humidity, and airflow across all grow rooms. The HVAC Associate works under the direction of the Facilities Manager or Lead HVAC Technician and plays a critical role in maintaining consistent environmental conditions necessary for plant health and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the maintenance and repair of HVAC and environmental control systems, including air handlers, mini-splits, chillers, dehumidifiers, and exhaust systems
• Conduct routine inspections of HVAC equipment to identify and troubleshoot issues before they impact grow environments
• Respond promptly to HVAC service requests to reduce downtime in cultivation areas
• Support the installation and calibration of thermostats, sensors, control panels, and other components tied to environmental systems
• Perform basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on HVAC units and report more complex issues to the Facilities Manager
• Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and assist with documentation required for compliance inspections
• Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE when working with mechanical or electrical systems
• Work closely with the cultivation team to understand environmental requirements for each growth phase and ensure conditions support plant health and productivity
• Help maintain an organized inventory of spare parts and tools related to HVAC systems
Qualifications & Skills
• 1–2 years of experience in HVAC maintenance, installation, or repair preferred; experience in a greenhouse or cultivation setting is a plus
• Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, tools, and safety procedures
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and equipment documentation
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn from senior technicians
• Comfortable working around sensitive cultivation environments and following sanitation protocols
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on ladders, and perform physical labor in hot or cold environments
• EPA Universal Certification or other HVAC certification is a plus
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
• Requires climbing ladders, working in elevated or tight spaces, and exposure to hot or cold temperatures
• Frequent exposure to mechanical systems, moving parts, and cultivation odors
• Must adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE
• On-call availability may be required
• Speaking Spanish fluently is required
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
